The parking brake cable is a steel cable with external protection, which is used to stabilize the steel structure or stabilize the steel cable of the finished product with a tensile film. It is widely used in brakes, throttles and gear shifts of automobiles, motorcycles, ships, airplanes, etc. The parking brake cable is related to our safety, and in order to make the car brake cable work normally, it is necessary for us to understand the inspection method of the parking brake cable.
1. First, check whether the parking brake cable is damaged. If the parking brake cable is cut, stretched or worn, it should be replaced. Secondly, check whether it moves smoothly. If it is damaged, it should be replaced immediately. Otherwise, the parking brake system will not work properly.
2. When checking the parking brake cable, you must park your car on a flat road. Secondly, check according to the situation: if it is an automatic transmission car, put the transmission in the parking position. If it is a manual transmission car, the transmission should be placed in first gear.
3. During the inspection, fix the rear tire with a wheel wedge to ensure stability, and then connect the parking brake. Use a jack or jack bracket to prop up your car, find the parking brake cable, and then visually inspect along the landing gear to check the connection between the parking brake cable and the rear brake for any signs of damage.
4. After that, check all bolts and brackets to see if there is any looseness.
5. After checking the parking brake cable, check the parking brake handle by the way. If the tooth tip is damaged, whether the wear is too serious. If damage or wear is found, the parking brake handle should be replaced immediately. Finally, check whether the operation and stroke of the parking brake handle are correct. If necessary, appropriate adjustments should be made.
