How to find the broken core of control cable?

It takes 1 to 2 hours to find the cable; for the cable that has completed the shielding, armoring, and sheathing processes, it is difficult to find the broken core by this method, which often results in the scrapping of the entire cable. Use the following methods to find, convenient and fast.

1. The combination of capacitance method and induction method This method is suitable for the broken core of the cable core. It is required that the cable core is not covered with a metal layer (such as shielding layer, armor layer, etc.), and there is no extruded sheath. The search method is to first find the approximate position of the disconnection by using the capacitance comparison method, and then use the induced voltage method to accurately find the disconnection point.

The induced voltage method is to connect one end of the broken core with 600V AC voltage, the other end of the broken core and other cores are grounded, and use an induction pen that can emit sound and light signals to test. When the sensor pen slides over the broken core, its acousto-optic signal will change significantly, so that the broken line can be accurately found.

2. Combination of constant current source and bridge method This method is suitable for all types of broken cores in principle, but is generally used for finished cables or cable cores that have been coated with metal layers. The search method is to first use a constant current source to burn and break down the insulation at the broken core, and then use the bridge method fault locator to accurately locate the fault point.
