The braking principle of car brake pads

Automobile brake pads, also known as automobile brake pads, are friction materials that rotate with the wheels and are fixed on the brake drum or brake disc. The working principle of the brake is mainly due to friction. The car uses the friction between the brake pads and brake discs (drums) and the tire ground to convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle into heat energy after friction, and the vehicle stops.

A good and efficient brake system provides stable, sufficient and controllable braking force to ensure that the force applied by the driver from the brake pedal is completely and effectively transmitted to the master cylinder through the car brake cable. It must have excellent hydraulic transmission And heat dissipation capacity. Separate cylinders can also avoid hydraulic failure and brake damping caused by high temperature. Automobile brake systems are divided into two categories: disc brakes and drum brakes. However, in addition to cost advantages, drum brakes are far less efficient than disc brakes. Therefore, the brake system introduced in this article is mainly disc brakes.

Automobile brake pads are usually composed of steel plates, adhesive insulating layers and friction blocks. The car brake cable is composed of PVC + Coiled flat steel wire + PE Inner tube. This is to paint the steel plate to prevent rust maintenance. The SMT-4 furnace temperature tracker is used to detect the temperature distribution during the coating process to ensure quality.

Friction refers to the resistance to movement between the contact surfaces of two objects in relative motion. The friction force (F) is proportional to the product of the friction coefficient (μ) and the vertical normal pressure (N) of the friction bearing surface, expressed by the physical formula F=μN. For the brake system: (μ) refers to the friction coefficient between the brake pad and the brake disc, and N is the force (pedal force) exerted by the brake caliper piston on the brake pad. The greater the friction coefficient, the greater the friction generated, but the high heat after friction changes the friction coefficient between the brake pad and the disc. In other words, the coefficient of friction (μ) changes with temperature. The coefficient of friction varies with the material of each brake pad. Therefore, different brake pads and universal brake cables have different optimum operating temperatures and applicable operating temperature ranges. This is the precautions when buying brake pads.

High-performance brake pads are the most direct, effective and simple way to increase braking force. At present, most high-performance brake pads and car brake cables use carbon fiber and metal materials as the main components, emphasizing non-asbestos and environmentally friendly formulas. The performance of the brake pads is officially included in the material, so consumers cannot know the actual material from the product label. Therefore, the choice of brake pads is based on the friction coefficient-temperature curve and the applicable operating temperature (if any) provided by the manufacturer, so only professional media test reports or reference experience can be used. Some car owners abuse purely competitive brake pads and substandard universal brake cables, and spend a lot of money to make the brake effect worse than the original brake pads. The reason is that due to its compliant driving style, the brake pads will never reach the most basic operating temperature. The effect is very poor. The most common problem when replacing brake pads is the accompanying noise. If the disc is flat, it is difficult to solve. You have no choice but to accept it or find a new repair shop, replacing parking brake cable and brake pads.

Changing the brake pads of a car depends on how long the washer has been used in the life of the car. Generally speaking, if you need to drive more than 80,000 kilometers, you need to replace the car's brake pads and replacing parking brake cable. However, if you hear the sound of a car rubbing under the car, you will need to replace the car’s brake pads regardless of the mileage. If you don't know your mileage, please go to your brake cable wholesaler or your car's brake pads and auto repair shop to replace and install them.
